10-part discussion feature launch! Introduction

Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well :)  So I have some exciting news for you all - or at least, I think it's exciting  hehe >.<  Anyways, I've decided to launch a 10-part discussion feature on Nutrition...specifically the state of nutrition nowadays.  I hope that sharing the very basis of what I've learned from years working in the field might make it easier for some of you to start taking the right steps towards getting healthy!

When I started Holistic Chick, it was just on the heels of launching my book blog so they each kind of ended up influencing one another in different ways.  And since two blogs involve quite a bit of writing - especially a book review one - my intention to whip up holistic-type discussions fell by the wayside...BUT...I have been working on this segment for quite some time!  A lot of planning and organization was required and by nature, I tend to have sort of a scatter-brained approach to writing and, life in general so: *pats self on back*

So yeah, back to the topic at hand:  I never really told the story of how I became a more conscious and health oriented weirdo that I am here on the blog.  Sure I shared my story as testimonials to my own clients, friends and family but not since I've launched Holistic Chick...  and that got me thinking  about how HUGE taking on something like this can seem, when you're just starting.  When you begin to open your eyes and see how unhealthy a lot of people are (maybe including yourself!) and you know you want to start making changes...but where do you start?! How do you know what advice to take and what might not work for you?

I personally started taking my health into my own hands when I was 28 and had just started working in the holistic field.   I'll save the details for the next part of this discussion segment but let's just say I was a mess : migraines, anxiety, weight gain, food allergies and environmental sensitivities to boot.  I was lucky enough to find myself exactly where I needed to be to learn to take care of myself in a way that worked for me.  Getting healthy took care of most of those issues within the first year or two.  Now that's all well and good for me because I was learning about myself while I was training in the field.  Obviously, not everyone has that opportunity...

I know a lot of people are curious about living healthy lives but it can seem overwhelming to get into from the outside looking in.  There's a lot of confusing information out there - and just because it works for one person doesn't mean it's the best advice for everyone!   I thought that by sharing the very basics truths of what I've learned meshed into a sort of history of how Holistic Chick came to be might help simplify some things for my readers.

This week will just be a sort of introduction post, I've explained a little of what I want to discuss but here's my upcoming post topics:
Week 1 - Introduction (In progress. Check. ✓)
Week 2 - How Holistic Chick came to be
Week 3 - Nutrition: the basics EVERYONE should know
Week 4 - The state of Produce today - fruits, veggies, herbs
Week 5 - To meat or not to meat...the 411 on regular meat, free range & organic
Week 6 - Vegetarianism, Veganism and concerns (e.g. nutritional deficiencies)
Week 7 - Vitamin Supplements
Week 8 - Healing with Herbs
Week 9 - Protein Powder Power
Week 10 - Conclusion/Wrap-Up
There are this many parts because I want to try and keep my posts short and we all know I can ramble on...especially when it comes to health stuff   >.<  Soooo yeah, I hope you'll all participate by asking questions, sharing your experiences with getting healthy and your thoughts on nutrition the way I live it...because I can only share my own experience with y'all in the hopes that it can help some of you.  Like I mentioned above, I'm still learning about my own health and body day by day and I'm willing to learn from other people's experiences as well :)
